MONTEGO BAY (ST.JAMES) – Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited, the national leader in food-service distribution was pleased to award 31 dedicated and exemplary students with over J$1,000,000.00 in scholarships through the annual CPJ Scholarship Programme held on Monday August 19, 2013.
This year’s recipients earned scholarships for their exceptional academic achievements displayed in their 2012-2013 academic period both at the primary and tertiary level.
CPJ Scholars included:
- Rushane Campbell, son of Ruth-Ann Byfield, Administrative Assistant to Tom Tyler, representing UWI MONA
- Simon Williamson, son of Petra-Ann Williamson, Human Resources Manager, from Mt. Alvernia Prep
- Nia Lyn and Rodgae Lyn, daughters of Rodarie Lyn, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, from St. Theresa Prep, Kingston, each were honoured with a scholarship.
“Every year I am impressed by the dedication shown by the children of our Associates,” said Mr. Mark Hart, Executive Chairman of CPJ. “Making something of yourself takes hard work and dedication and you have demonstrated that this year.
Mr. Hart not only congratulated the awardees but also commended the parents for their involvement in the academic success of their children.
“It is not only the children that should be applauded for getting something right, but it is also you the parents that should be recognized for your role and support”.
With that said, Tashieka Welsh of Cornaldi Primary , made her mother Terry-Ann Noble(Customer Service Representative) beam with pride when she performed her award winning silver medal JCDC piece entitled “Sum it Up”. Tashieka’s performance exemplified the true essence of a CPJ Scholar.
In addition to the Scholarship Programme, CPJ has implemented a Booklist Programme spanning some three years. This programme makes new and recycled books accessible to parents as well provides a subsidy of 70% to the purchase of books not available from the book drive.
