Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) was named Purveyor of the Year for the seventh time in the last 10 years at the annual JHTA Awards cermemony held recently at the Sunset Grande in Ocho Rios. “The timing of this award is even more significant as the JHTA is also celebrating its milestone 50th anniversary,” says CPJ’s chairman Mark Hart. The awards ceremony was attended by several of Jamaica’s leading hoteliers and other tourism industry representatives. “There is no greater honour that we can receive than being honoured by the JHTA for a seventh time in 10 years,” says Tom Tyler, CEO. “This is an organisation that we believe in and believe it represents our customers and in its role, contributes to their success.” Indeed, the JHTA and CPJ seem aligned in their mission to support the hotel industry.

With over 250 employees, five of those being the original sales team from 1994, CPJ exemplifies the JHTA’s main objective: to promote the development of Jamaica’s hospitality industry and to represent the interests of its members in all forums, locally and internationally. CPJ’s listing on the JSE will pave the way for deepening its commitment to the Tourism Industry. Planned projects include a new agri-processing facility in Montego Bay, which will be added to their already sucessful Juice Plant and Liquid Pasterised Egg factory, and a CPJ Market in Kingston servicing smaller hotels, restaurants and bars as well as gourmet-inclined private individuals. There are also plans to leverage the companies buying power and its customer relationships to establish an operation in St Lucia.
