MONTEGO BAY, St James — Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited Group (CPJ), which recently opened its US$4 million state-of-the-art meat processing plant in Freeport, Montego Bay, is now poised to penetrate the Caribbean market with its meat products, while at the same time service the local retail industry.
“We will be exporting a container to St Martin next (this) week which is an excellent place for us to target first. Then we want to go into Aruba,” an upbeat CPJ Executive Chairman, Mark Hart disclosed. ” We also have arrangements with some of the hotels we supply in Jamaica, which have properties in Turks and Caicos and in the Bahamas; they want to take our products into those islands so it is a great opportunity for us and then after that, we will be looking at St Lucia and then Antigua”.
Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Roger Clarke who headed the long list of officials in attendance in his address lauded CPJ on the monumental investment, citing it as a strong display of confidence in Jamaica.
